Cagliari is a city where you breathe culture every day. It is not by chance that it was amongst the 6 finalists of the 2019 European Culture City contest. Cagliari is a young city full of new ideas. Just to name an example, the Italian Internet was born there.
The Asinara gulf is a less known Sardinian destination comparing to the near Alghero, but not for being less beautiful. This corner on the left upper side of Sardinia has crystalline blue sea and nature glimpses that conquer anyone. The Asinara island was a penal colony and when it was dismissed, it became a fascinating tourist attraction, where nature is still wild and can be visited by many ways, including the local tourist train. If lucky, you can see the famous local white donkey.
Barbagia could be called “the other” Sardinia for a couple of reasons. First, because it is much different from the worldwide known tourist Sardinia, tied to crystal blue sea and international jet set tourism; but also because it still preserves the traditions kept along the years.
Some of the emotions that one can live in Sardinia simply cannot be told or “frozen” in a picture. This is what happens when for example you see some the many strange-shaped rocks visible in Sardinian landscapes, valleys or beaches.
We could say that Ogliastra is the “other” Sardinia. Far from the mass tourism, who choose to visit Ogliastra is looking for uncontaminated places, for a close contact with a still wild nature of singular beauty.
