Shopping in Sardinia

To go shopping in Sardinia may be as interesting and fun as enjoying the island natural beauties. Between a bath into its crystal waters and an aperitif at sunset time, there are many pleasant ways to spend time amongst shops and boutiques that are able to satisfy different customers.

All these shops are meant for the local inhabitants and for the tourists, Italian and foreigners, that while visiting Sardinia, don’t want to lose the opportunity of buying goods of the best Italian brands.

Shopping in Olbia

Olbia has a big luxury outlet, where it’s possible to find famous brands such as Diesel, Cavalli, Ferrè, Missoni, Versace amongst others. There it is possible to buy evening dresses, shoes, jeans, sunbathing suits, glasses and more. A big shop where one can find a bit of anything of the most famous brands, not only Italian ones.

For a more vary shopping,  it is a good idea to walk along the Corso Umberto, in Olbia center, where there are boutiques but also toy, perfums and saouvenir stores.

Porto Cervo

Going in Emerald Coast direction, in Porto Cervo there are the most known brands of the fashion world. Distributed along the squares and small streets, it is possible to shop in Versace, Gucci, Cavalli, Iceberg, Dolce & Gabbana, Pinko, Pucci, Loro Piana, Prada and others.

If one want to buy shoes, there are great brands such as the sportive Italian Tod’s, other than Gucci, F.lli Santoni and those inside the boutiques that sell shoes and accessories other than clothes. For bags, the famous Loius Vuitton are close to Hotel Cervo.

Porto Cervo offers quite everything regarding luxury shopping, also jewelry with names such as Bulgari, Cartier, De Grisogono and, for watches, Rolex amongst others.

Porto Rotondo

10 minutes from Olbia there’s Porto Rotondo, the exclusive village founded by Dona delle Rose Counts. This particular village has the same intimacy regarding shopping it has between people. There are some shops of known brands, but the most are multi brand shops, that bring the best of all brands to offer to the special customers of Porto Rotondo.

The most popular shop place is the casbah, from where to go to other squares that are a characteristic of this village. As for Porto Cervo, here you can find anything, from the shoe to the jewel or fur.

Along Via del Molo there’s Vela shop, where there’s a large choice of clothes for men, women and children of the best well known brands. Close to San Marco square there’s the Harmont & Blane shop and just before casbah there’s a little square where you can buy handmade sandals and visit Paolo Isoni boutique.

Paolo Isoni has so many customers amongst the jet set women as his creations fit any woman, with no need to have a model body. Barbara Berlusconi is just one of his affectionate customers and friends.

Cagliari

Being Sardinia’s capital, it possible to find anything in Cagliari because it is also a referring point to all Sardinian people.

In Largo Carlo felice there’s La Rinascente, the famous Italian department store. There you can find great brands for men and women, other than perfums, bags and home utensils and decors. Brands like Burberry, Versace, Armani Jeans but also younger ones as Desigual, Guess e Stefanel. If you don’t have much time to go shopping, you will probably find all that you need in this big magazine.

If you prefer to walk along the streets, going up to Piazza yenne, on the other side of the street, there’s Volontè, a multi brand shop with big brands such as Guccci and Versace. Going still up and turning right on Via Mannu, you can find all kinds of shops. Beginning with Castangia, storic shop of Cagliari that wears men and women with famous brands such as Cerruti, Armani and others.

Going ahead you have popular shops as Benetton and Zara, amongst smaller shops.

Alghero

The storic center of Alghero is perfect to go shopping. Here you can find multi brands shops with the best names, but the main one is Antonio Marras’ one, the Sardinian stylist. Other than being very beautiful  with its particular decoration, it offers a large choice of his collection. Antonio Marras became more known after being the director of Maison Kenzo for 8 years.

In Alghero it is a good idea to go shopping for jewels with Sardinian coral, that other than its value, it is typical from this area that is named Coral Shore for the great production of red coral.

Close to Alghero, there’s sassari that offers good places to go shopping. It is a less tourist city with shops meant for its population, but with all the best brands you can find anywhere else in Sardinia. A walk along Via Roma, passing through Piazza Castello and then going down along Via Garibaldi, offers a great choice of good shops such as Da Tome, Maccioccu and Posh.

The possibility of having good choices to go shopping is surely an add-on for the tourists that visit Sardinia. It is fun for walking through the small cities, having a different point of view of this island…maybe duting a cloudy day.
