Sailing ship cruises to La Maddalena archipelago

A saling ship cruise in La Maddalena archipelago is a tour you can’t absolutely miss while visiting Sardinia. Visit water mirrors of unique colors in beaches and coves that are only accessible by the sea is a singular experience that one should absolutely do during a vacation in Sardinia.

The best mini cruises are those with old sailing ships that cut through water making you feel the sea breeze mixed with the Mediterranean local flora perfumes.

There are different sailing ship cruises and the only thing to do is to decide which one is the best for you. It is also possible to personalize a tour, making a mini cruise focused on diving, on snorkeling or even on photography.

Sailing ships to choose from

  • There are different tours, one more inviting than the other. The first one is the traditional cruise to north Sardinia and La Maddalena archipelago. The sailing ship  sails  along the coast of Capo D’Orso and La Maddalena giving the guests the opportunity to admire the famous pink beach of Budelli island. Then It stops for a sea bath in the “piscine” (transparent water mirrors) and for visiting Cavalliere beach. The guests have a fish based lunch on board  and then the cruise continue sailing around Santa Maria island stopping for another sea bath in one of the enchanted coves.

  • It is possible to organize a half day cruise, ideal for families with young kids.

  • An irresistible new entry is the “Aperi-cena” (aperitif+dinner), where the sailing ship works as a sea taxi taking the guests to have a drink at Phi Beach (spectacular bar on the rocks named by New York Times as one of the 10 best places in the world to watch the sunset). The sailing ship takes then the guests back and serve them spaghetti on board.

  • The most romantic choice is, for sure, a mini cruise that begins with a refreshing drink served during sailing and continue with a candle light dinner in front of Caprera or Spargi island. The dinner consists in fish dishes served with the local white wine Vermentino, served chilled. Gran finale with the sea bath at midnight.

  • It is also possible to have 2/3 days cruises in complete relax for groups of 6/9 people. An ideal solution for family and/or friends gatherings to celebrate an special event.

  • Another great choice is to lease the sailing ship in exclusivity, including a tour with a rubber boat among the islands. In this cruise it is possible to fish and have the fish cooked on board or stop by the Caprera Fish Market to eat fresh fish prepared at the moment.

Sailing ship types, boarding areas and food

The cruises are usually organized using ships of about 18 x 5 meters and take a maximum of 12 passengers.

It is possible to board at Cannigione, Palau and La Maddalena small ports. Otherwise, under reservation, it is possible to board also from Porto Raphael or Baja Sardinia.

During the cruise  a fish based lunch will be served and a snack will be offered to the guests before returning to the port.
