History of the Lighthouse
The Faro Capo Spartivento was built in 1856 by the Italian Navy. In the Second World War machine shotguns from the American airplanes have damaged the house. Up to the 80s it was residence of the “Faristi” (the lighthouse keepers) and the existing guesthouse still keeps its own identity of lighthouse. For 150 years the fascinating lantern of the lighthouse has been turning on at sunset and illuminating the way of sailors with its rotating beam of light. It is currently the only one lighthouse in Italy that accommodates tourists.
Description
The Faro Capo Spartivento is an exclusive guest house with only 4 suites and 2 mini apartments located in the oldest Sardinian lighthouse.
Much more than a hotel, it is an experience to enjoy at its fullest as it was built to make the guests feel at home. Obviously, a very special home.
The lighthouse is located at the extreme south point of Sardinia, the closest Sardinian land to Africa. It is possible to reach it only with their private shuttle bus as it is forbidden any other kind of traffic there to safeguard this natural angle of Sardinia at its best.
The lighthouse is on a cliff, on a peak over the sea. The swimming pool confuses itself with the horizon line offering extremely beauty panoramas in this hidden paradise in Sardinia.
In the back of the lighthouse there’s a 3000 mq garden with a centuries old olive tree and a 12 meters long fireplace.
In the central area there are 8 gazebo covered with glass to allow the guests to have lunch with an astonishing sea view and have dinner with the rotating light of the lighthouse.
Located on a cliff overlooking the sea, the lighthouse boasts a 200 qm teak platform with an infinity pool and 2 Jacuzzi seats.
The hotel has a 600 sqm area and have a crystal door to allow the sea view from the inside. The arch of the door has preserved an iron embellishment with the initials of King Vittorio Emanuele.
The idea of welcoming guests as they were in their home is meant also regarding food. The maître and the chef talk directly with the guests to decide, and suggest, what to prepare them instead of offering a common menu.
Sea
The Faro Capo Spartivento is a perfect starting point if you want to visit the beaches of Cala Cipolla (1 Km distance), Su Giudeu (3 Km), the beach of Campana (4 Km) and the beach of Chia (6 Km).
